EXCLUSIVE PREMIERE: Ascend the black metal mountain with Brazil's Vestígio

Out of the bowels of a personal low-point come rays of high-point light. It's been a while since I've had time to do anything but (barely) publish the weekly post, let alone premiere or any extracurricular stuff, but when beauty comes your way beauty you must spread, otherwise we'd be stuck with nothing but the ugly.

The beauty in question is the debut album from Brazilian black metal project Vestígio, made up of three talented vocalists/lyricists for each one of the EP's three tracks, and one main musician/instrumentalist who may or may not be the earthly incarnation of an actual angel. The vocalists are Pedrito Hildebrando (Solifvgae, Despresso ,desdito) Yuri Sabaoth (Fleshpyre), and Bruno Augusto Ribeiro, also known as the vocalist for the wonderful Vauruvã. The music-man-angel is Caio Lemos, friend of the show and the generational talent behind some of the best black metal in life (Kaatayra, Bríi, Bakt, Vauruvã). The first track off of the upcoming release, "Segredo," is available for streaming below. Fuckin' do it.

Sonically, some of the Vestígio's closest touchstones seem, to me, to be the storming, aggressive, emotional black metal riffing and atmosphere of some of Kaatayra's more aggressive first two albums, with some of the bombast and emotiveness of Vauruvã's outpt. And, funnily enough, the vocalist erupting all over Lemos' instrumentals is indeed Vauruvã's Bruno Augusto Ribeiro. All of which is to say it's fucking awesome, and easily some of the best black metal of this cursed year.

I am, thus, extremely proud to premiere the band's first single, from the aforementioned debut release Vestígios, due out in a little over a week (November 10). Pre-order here, and check out the wonderful "Segredo" below. And be safe.
